01 Who we are

Tasteful is made by Latchkey Software LLC, a limited liability company registered in North Carolina (“Latchkey,” “we,” “us”). These terms govern your use of the Tasteful app and this website. By using either, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

02 Your licence to use Tasteful

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Tasteful on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial cooking. You may not resell the app, redistribute it, reverse-engineer it, or use it to build a competing product.

03 Beta software

Tasteful is currently in beta. Beta builds may contain bugs, may lose or corrupt data, and may change or be withdrawn without notice. Don’t rely on a beta build as the only copy of anything you’d be upset to lose.

04 Your content stays yours

The recipes, notes, pantry items, lists, and meal plans you create in Tasteful belong to you. We don’t claim any ownership of them, and because the app has no accounts, we don’t hold a copy — they live on your device and in your own iCloud account. Keeping backups of your device is your responsibility.

05 Recipes from other sites

Tasteful can import recipes published on third-party websites and from photographs you take. Those recipes and the surrounding content belong to whoever wrote them. Importing a recipe for your own personal use is what the app is for; republishing, redistributing, or otherwise commercially exploiting someone else’s recipe content is not, and doing so is your responsibility, not ours. We don’t endorse, verify, or take responsibility for the accuracy of anything imported from a third-party source, and we’re not responsible for those sites’ own content or terms.

06 AI features, nutrition, and food safety

Several features use AI to extract recipes, answer questions, suggest substitutions, and estimate nutrition. AI output can be wrong, and sometimes confidently so. Specifically:

• Nutrition estimates are estimates. Where the original source doesn’t publish nutrition data, Tasteful approximates it from the ingredients. These figures are marked as estimated in the app and must not be relied on for medical treatment, allergy management, or any strict dietary requirement.
• Suggestions are not dietary or medical advice. Nothing the assistant tells you is professional nutritional, medical, or food-safety guidance. If you have an allergy or a medical condition, verify ingredients yourself and talk to a qualified professional.
• You are responsible for safe cooking. Cooking times, temperatures, substitutions, and storage advice — whether imported or AI-generated — should be checked against your own judgement and reliable food-safety guidance. You cook at your own risk.

07 Subscriptions and billing

Tasteful offers an optional paid subscription for AI-assisted features. While Tasteful is distributed as a beta through TestFlight, these features are provided free of charge and beta testers are not billed. Subscriptions are sold, billed, and renewed by Apple through the App Store — we never see or handle your payment details. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, and you can manage or cancel them in your Apple ID subscription settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies, not by us.

08 Acceptable use

Don’t use Tasteful to break the law, to infringe anyone’s rights, to attack or overload our servers, to work around rate limits or other technical restrictions, or to gain unauthorised access to any system. We may limit or end your access if you do.

09 No warranty

Tasteful and this website are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any result it produces will be accurate. Some jurisdictions don’t allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Latchkey Software LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of Tasteful — including any reliance on imported recipes, nutrition estimates, or AI-generated suggestions. Our total liability for any claim relating to Tasteful is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five US dollars. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11 Changes and ending access

We may update these terms as the app changes. If a change is significant, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page, and continuing to use Tasteful after that means you accept the revised terms. You can stop using Tasteful at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached.

12 Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.
